Your books,
taken care of.

Clean Books. No Noise.

Monthly bookkeeping for small businesses that are ready to hand off their books and let the process run — plus QuickBooks workshops for owners who'd rather learn it themselves.

The idea behind the name

Receipts into clarity.
Chaos into clean books.

The origami swan is our visual signature. It starts with something most business owners dread — a pile of receipts and financial paperwork — and folds it into something precise and useful.

That's what good bookkeeping does. It takes the financial noise of running a business and turns it into something you can actually read, understand, and use to make decisions. Clean books aren't just accurate. They're clarifying.

How it works

A process that runs itself.

The same four steps, every month. You know what to send, when to send it, and when to expect your financials back. No check-ins needed in between.

01 — Upload
You send documents

Receipts and source documents go into your dedicated Dropbox folder. We'll let you know exactly what's needed.

By the 5th
02 — Processing
We work the books

Reconciliation and review happen on our end, with full attention on accuracy. This is where the work gets done.

03 — Delivery
Financials come back

Your completed P&L, Balance Sheet, and any notes land in your Dropbox folder right on schedule.

15th–20th
04 — Repeat
Process resets

Same structure, next month. Clean books on a schedule you can count on, without having to think about it.

I've owned businesses for 30 years. I know what it's like to be the one trying to figure out where the money went at 11pm on a Tuesday — and I know what it feels like when you finally have books you can actually trust.

Balanced & Done exists because most small business owners don't need a full-time bookkeeper or a firm with overhead to match. They need someone who shows up every month, does the work correctly, and stays out of the way. That's the service I built.

The workshops came from the same place. QuickBooks isn't complicated — but most people who teach it have never actually run a business. I have, which changes how I explain it.

FAQ

Questions we actually get.

Honest answers about how this works and what to expect. Still have something we didn't cover? Just ask.

About bookkeeping
QBO is required, but you don't have to be set up already. If you're coming from a different platform or just getting started, we can discuss what migration looks like during the onboarding call. The $250 setup fee covers getting everything connected properly.
Everything goes through a shared Dropbox folder we set up during onboarding. We'll tell you exactly what to upload and when — and send a reminder if the deadline is coming up. The cleaner your documents come in, the smoother the process runs.
Email is the best way — you'll hear back within two business days. Keeping communication in writing keeps things organized and makes sure nothing gets missed. It also means you have a clear record of everything discussed.
No long-term contracts — service is month-to-month. The $250 onboarding fee is a one-time setup charge, not a lock-in. That said, bookkeeping works best as an ongoing relationship, so we hope you'll stick around.
Absolutely — we handle bookkeeping, your CPA handles taxes, and the two work together seamlessly. We'll deliver clean, accurate financials that make your CPA's job easier. If they send year-end adjusting entries, we can import those as an add-on service.
About workshops
No — sessions use Craig's Landscaping, a free sample company built into QBO that anyone can access without a paid subscription. You'll want your own account if you plan to practice at home afterward, but it's not required to attend.
No laptop needed — and honestly, better that way. Sessions are instructor-led demo format. You watch, follow along in your printed workbook, and ask questions. Practice happens after class on your own time.
In-person sessions are held at Venue Skateboards in Carytown, Richmond — 9 to 10:30am before the shop opens. Six theater-style seats, a big screen, and easy morning parking. Zoom sessions are also available for the same content if you're outside Richmond or prefer to attend remotely. Select your preference when you express interest and we'll match you to the right session.
Early bird is $97 and closes one week before the session date. After that the price is $125. Same session, same workbook — the early rate is a thank-you for committing in advance.
Self-paced digital versions are in the works and will be available for purchase once the in-person series is established. Drop your email below to be first to know when they go live.
